Family Rain Gig at Night & Day 9th June

I was going to wait until later in the month to open my ''from the pit review'' of gigs and performance, but felt the need to record my thoughts following a great night.

So the Family Rain, a band I've had the pleasure of seeing /shooting - few months back at Ruby Lounge and when I noticed a Manchester date on their 6 venue UK Tour "Bad Weather" I needed a repeat visit.

Now I must come clean, this isn't a review of the tunes, music and lyrics - as I'm more about the performance, the vibe of the show and over all value. But lets just say checkout them out as  you can't help but boogie along, not made a bad one.

So onto the gig.........touring out of town band, Monday night........pissing down ( yes, it's Manchester and it was the Bad Weather Tour - no joke ) and following a busy weekend in the North West with festivals Parklife and the one in Chester......I was worried. Thought it was going to be a part sold venue. Fear over - it's Night & Day which is about as good a small venue in the North West you can get, and is idea for touring bands. I'll be doing a venue review/portfolio in the coming months so keep an eye out.

So on to the performance. The band kept us waiting for what seemed like ages, but in reality must've only been 20 minutes, but they came onto stage and straight into the tunes to the delight of the crowd. The stage at Night & Day is not the widest but as a three piece (three brothers) they made full use of it and Will, the lead singer/bassets, kept stepping onto and across the speaker stacks at front of stage to get closer to the punters. Was great to see a band full of energy in a steaming hot venue connecting to the audience, who played their part - well done all that made this a great performance.

In summary - as my tea's going cold, a band that gives it everything for the crowd, a good turn out by music lovers in a great venue. Oh and Will ended the last song with a leap of the stage into the crowd for some good out rock n roll surfing. Top night, come back soon lads!
